How to Remove PDF Password
If you know the password of a document you own, removing the protection flattens the workflow: no more prompts when a script or a colleague opens the file. It applies only to documents you are authorized to modify.
Step by Step
- Open the Unlock PDF tool.
- Load the protected document; the tool reports whether it is protected.
- Enter the password you already know — unlocking always requires it.
- Confirm the operation and wait for the decrypted file to be produced.
- Open the result and verify it opens without a prompt.
- Check that the content is complete: page count, images, and text all intact.
- Store the unprotected copy somewhere appropriate, and keep the protected original if it still has to circulate.
Tips
- Unlocking works with a known password only — it is not password recovery and never bypasses a password you do not have.
- Only do this to documents you own or have permission to modify; removing protection from someone else’s file may breach terms or law.
